People sometimes ask why a health centre would offer so many community programs such as The Good Food Box, volunteer coordination, summer recreation, and childcare training. The answer is simple: Healthy Communities = Healthy People. Tommy Douglas called it the “second stage of medicare” which focuses on keeping people healthy rather than patching them up when sick.
Country Roads Community Health Centre believes that good health involves a healthy community. We provide primary health care (nurse practitioner and doctor), and a team of professionals including nurses, foot care specialist, a pharmacist, respiratory technologist, social workers, dietitian, community health worker, and health promoters, to provide specialized services. Our staff partners with other agencies to increase an individual’s ability to take more control of their health and well-being. We offer affordable, barrier-free programs based on local need in the community and have processes in place so that all people are able to afford them.
