Country Roads Community Health Centre
Move It After School Program
A weekly after school program in four area schools for students in grades 3-6. The program promotes literacy, skill development, social skills, healthy eating, and an active lifestyle. Runs from October to March.
The program provides leadership training and mentoring for youth volunteers. Student volunteers are able to earn volunteer hours towards the hours required for their O.S.S.D.
South Crosby Public School – Tuesdays starting October 11th – last week March
Rideau Vista Public School – Wednesdays starting October 12th – last week March
Lombardy Public School – Wednesdays starting October 12th – Last week of March
Sweets Corners Public School – Thursdays starting October 13th – last week of March
Move IT at all locations takes a break the week of December 18th for 4 weeks and returns January 17th

Early Years – Parent Education and Support
Programs for pregnant women, parents and caregivers of children aged 0-6 years. In partnership with Rideau Lakes Libraries, participants enjoy activities, snacks, music, art and discussion. Navigation of supports, systems and community needs available through the Early Years and Family Navigator.
- Portland – Rideau Lakes Library Play, Learn & Story time – 1st and 3rd Monday of each month (No group in July or August) at Country Roads Community Health Centre in Portland from 10-11:30am.
- Lombardy – Rideau Lakes Library Play, Learn & Story time – 2nd and 4th Monday of each month (No group in July or August) at the South Elmsley Branch, Lombardy, from 10-11:30am.
- Summer Park Days – We had a blast at this year’s summer park days! Join us in Summer 2023 for special musical performances, outdoor activity play, special guests, sensory bins, take home items, and handouts.

Childcare Training Program

This Canada Safety Council course is designed to educate youth about babysitting standards. Topics of discussion include child development, nutrition, basic first aid and handling emergencies.
The program is offered to youth who are turning 12 years or older in the year the program is taken.

Home Alone Program

This Canada Safety Council program is for children 10 years and older. This program teaches the skills to stay home alone for short periods of time.
